The forecast was not good and the three of us fancied a quick trip, so Rowten was quickly suggested. I hadn’t been there for a few years and Maz had never been so it sounded like a good idea.
There was barely anybody in the Dales. When we arrived in Kingsdale it looked like we would have the caves to ourselves.

Chad got to work rigging and it wasn’t long before we were at the bottom, via the eyehole and the flyover route. The forecast heavy rain had obviously begun as the stream, which could be seen around the corner from the bottom of the last pitch, was now a raging torrent.

We headed back out without much faff. The flyover was particularly draughty and the big pitch was wetter than before. Luckily the rain had stopped when we reached the surface and it wasn’t long before we were changed.

We stopped for pizza in Skipton at Bodrum Kebabs and were back in York at a relatively early time.
