Trapdoor Pot

Trapdoor Pot

As it was rather wet in the dales, a trip down Trapdoor Pot was in order. Very pleasant pothole with a series of short pitches and then a pretty impressive final pitch of around 40m called ‘Megatron’ leading to the bottom.

The passages between the pitches is varied and interesting with a few awkward bits, and three squeezes (gripper, ripper and stripper), although only the stripper requires a bit of thought. The FTSE choke does indeed look horrible, and must be negotiated ‘one-person-at-a-time.’

Nice 5hr trip. Will return to have a look at the side passage and alternative pitch ‘They Think It’s All Over’ – apparantly a “genuine collector’s item…”
